INFORMATION ON CONVOCATION CEREMONY
(PISMP- CANTERBURY CHRIST CHURCH UNIVERSITY)


1. Date of Convocation Ceremony

1.1 The Convocation Ceremony will be held at the on:


Date : 20 March 2010 (Saturday)
Time :7.30 am
Venue :Dewan Sri Siantan,
Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya,
24, Persiaran Perdana, Presint 3,
62675 PUTRAJAYA

2. Attendance

2.1 Degrees will normally be conferred only to graduates who attend the convocation. The senate however, in extremely rare cases, may allow a Degree to be conferred in absentia.

2.2 Graduates must obey the attendance instructions that have been prescribed according to each session of the convocation.

2.3 Graduates are not allowed to defer the Convocation Ceremony or nominate others to attend the Convocation Ceremony on their behalf.

3. Fees

3.1 Graduates whether or not they are attending the Convocation Ceremony, are required to pay the graduation fees as follows:

Bachelor Degree : RM 300.00

3.2The convocation fees includes:

•Two (2) guests entrance cards
•Rental of Convocation Attire/Regalia(Gown, mortar and hood)
•A set of three (3) Convocation Ceremony Photograph
•Degree Certificate
•Academic Transcript
•One (1) Convocation Book
•One (1) Folder for the Certificate
•A bag with Souvenirs
•One (1) DVD Convocation and E-Album

3.3 All graduates who are attending the Convocation Ceremony are advised to pay the graduation fee (not later than 10 March 2010) by using the Money Order.

Please make your payment to “KOPERASI INSTITUT PERGURUAN TUN HUSSEIN ONN, BATU PAHAT BERHAD”. BIMB A/C N0 : 01032010016629 or by sending MONEY ORDER to “PENGARAH IPG KAMPUS TUN HUSSEIN ONN”

4. Academic Regalia: Loan and Return

4.1 Graduates are to ensure that the payment of the graduation fee has been made before picking up their academic regalia. The official receipt/coupon issued upon payment of the above fees would have to be presented when picking up the academic regalia.
4.2 Graduates conferred with Bachelor degrees during the convocation ceremony will be attired in a black robe, a hood ( coloured according to official faculty colours), and a mortar board. All of the above will be loaned by the university.

4.3 Graduates are to ensure that:

(a) the academic regalia received is in good condition; and

(b) the correct regalia is received i.e. bachelor degree.

4.4 Graduates are not allowed to alter or amend any part of the academic regalia received.

4.5 The collection of the academic regalia may be done at the foyer of Dewan Sri Siantan, Putrajaya according to the schedule below:-

Time : 8.30 a.m. – 10.30 am


4.6 All academic regalia borrowed must be returned on 20 March 2010 after the convocation ceremony from 2.00 - 6.00 pm at the same place to the supplier.

4.7 The University will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items.

4.8 In the event of lost or damaged items, a charge will be incurred and no academic scroll or transcript would be released until after all payments have been made.

ROBES : RM 400.00
HOOD : RM 50.00
MORTAR BOARD : RM 60.00


5. Recommended Attire for The Convocation Ceremony

5.1 Graduates attending the ceremony are to be suitably attired. The suggested attire are as follows (refer to Diagram 1)

Ladies
• Long dresses which cover until the ankles/maxi skirts, long sleeved and the academic regalia
• Shirts/blouses and the academic regalia.
•Colour (no restrictions)
•For those wearing the hijab(tudung), it should be light in colour so that itmatches the faculty colours incorporated in the hood
•Sport shoes/slippers/open back shoes are not allowed.
•Short skirts or trousers are not allowed.

Men
• Dark lounge suit, dark shoes and the academic regalia.
• Jeans and shorts are not allowed.
• Sport shoes/slippers/sandals are not allowed.
• Hair styles should be short and neat.

5.2 Position of Tassel
Position the tassel of the mortar board on the left before the convocation ceremony and move it to the right after the ceremony

5.3 The Convocation Ceremony is an official event. Graduates are reminded to abide to the dress code as stated above. Graduates not adhering to the dress code will be allowed to attend the ceremony but will not be allowed to join in the convocation parade or go up on stage for the Bachelor degree presentation ceremony.

6. Collection of Convocation Bar Code Card, Guests Entrance Cards

6.1 Bar Code Card and Guests Entrance cards and other instructions will only be disseminated when graduates or their representatives arrive to pick up the academic regalia.

6.2 The University is not responsible for lost cards and they will not be replaced.

6.3 Each graduates is given two guest entrance cards for their two guests who attend the convocation Ceremony at the Dewan Sri Siantan, Putrajaya.

6.4 It is compulsory for all graduates to bring along their Bar Code Cards for scanning on the convocation stage.

7. Briefing and Rehearsals

7.1 A Convocation Briefing and Rehearsal session will be held on the

Time : 10.30 am
Venue: Dewan Sri Siantan, Putrajaya


7.2All graduates are required to attend this session to familiarise themselves with the events that have been planned for the actual convocation ceremony.

7.2 Failure to attend the briefing and rehearsal session may result in the university barring graduates from attending the Convocation Ceremony.

8. Procession of Graduands on Convocation Day

8.1 All graduates for the convocation are advised to convene at the foyer of the hall before 7.30 a.m. The procession will commence at exactly 8.00 a.m.

8.2 Graduates are reminded to come early in order to avoid traffic congestion and parking problems, All graduands are encouraged to obey the traffic instructions from the officers on duty that day.

8.3 Graduates who are late will not be allowed in and be a part of the Convocation Ceremony.

8.4 During the ceremony, graduates are required to follow all the rules and instructions from the officers in charge.

8.5 Graduates and guests are advised to have their meals before entering the convocation hall. Refreshments are not allowed in the convocation hall. Graduates and their guests are to remain in the hall until the ceremony ends.


9. Rules for Graduates’ Guests when Entering the Hall

9.1 Attire – National Dress/Lounge Suit/Batik/respectful.

9.2 Graduates’ guests may enter the Sri Siantan hall through the doors that have been identified by the officers on duty.

9.3 Kindly note that children under 12 will not be permitted into the hall during the convocation ceremony.

10. Conferral Arrangement and Convocation Etiquette

10.1 As the convocation ceremony is a formal occasion, please observe the following during the ceremony:-

a.Remain seated and observe silence at all times.
b.Hand phones are to be switch off or put in silent mode at all times.
c.Observe strict dress code
d.Profession photographer have been engaged to take your photographs on stage during the convocation ceremony. Your guests may take photograph with their camera or video camera from their seats only. Please advice your guests not to stand up or move from their seats while they are taking your photographs or video shots.
e.Follow all instructions of the procession marshals

10.2 The designation of rows and arrangement for seating for graduands during the ceremony will be decided by the Committee/Secretariat/Offi
cers in charge.

10.3 Graduates will receive their scrolls individually on the stage from the Vice Chancellor.

10.4 Convocation Procedure

a.Registration at 7.30 am. Please be punctual
b.Dress in your convocation attire.
c.Lining up. Follows the instruction of the officer in charge to line up accordingly and remember to bring your along your Bar Code Card.
d.Graduates Procession. Follow the officer in-charge to your seat in the hall
e. Going on the stage. Follow the officer in-charge to line up to the stage.
f.Receiving the scroll. The officer in-charge will guide you accordingly.
g.When your name is announced, please

•Walk towards the Guest of Honour
•Shake his/her hand
•Accept the scroll with both hands
•Thanks him/her
•Walk back to your seat


11. Collection of Scroll/Transcript for Bachelor’s Degree

11.1 Graduates may collect their Bachelor Degree scrolls/transcripts as soon as the convocation session is over. However, this depends on the followings:-

(a) Graduates must be able to produce the receipt for the payment of graduation fee as a proof that the fee has been paid;

(b) Graduates need to return the academic regalia to the University as the application form for scroll/transcript will only be distributed to those who have returned their academic regalia.

(c) For graduates, their scrolls/transcripts may be collected on the date that have been decided earlier.

(e) The University is not responsible for lost or damaged scrolls/transcripts after they have been collected.

New Year 2010


Happy Chinese New Year to all of my chinese friends in CCCU.
May it will become the sign of courage and feeling fearless to face any difficulties.

The Tiger is a natural born leader and symbolizes power, passion and daring. I pray that God will lead us to be a good leader, use the power in positive way and always passion in undergoing this lovely job; teacher.

Friends,tiger year is always reminding me of getting older since i was born on that year.

I'm turn to 24 this year, so do you! Happy 24 :)
